Cavalo

Jessica Gersten x Jason Koharik

Cavalo is a collaboration, imagined alongside designer and friend Jason Koharik. The collection emerged from a shared sensibility, rooted in a deep respect for process, material, and the language of the hand. The recognition of a common rhythm—how form is considered, how texture is honored, how intuition guides structure.

Named for the Portuguese word for horse—and produced in Portugal—Cavalo centers on an exploration of horsehair as both material and metaphor. Strength and fragility, tension and movement, memory and gesture are carried within each strand. Working independently yet in quiet alignment, the material revealed an unexpected resonance, inviting a deeper inquiry into what could be shaped together.

Cavalo unfolds as a material dialogue—two distinct practices moving through the same medium, allowing instinct, discipline, and time to guide the work.

What emerges is not a merging, but a conversation: one that explores the space between structure and softness, and the new forms that become possible within it.
